The Naparima Bowl

Redevelopment Project continues to be the flagship project of the facility. Although an infrastructural development project, at its core is to enhance the facility so that it better serves the needs of staff, patrons, performers and other creatives. While the project ultimately includes a new, two-storey building, which would only see fruition in the next two to three years, in the interim, maintaining a functional, comfortable, and safe facility is paramount. Through this project, the Bowl will upgrade its drainage, washroom facilities and rehabilitate our parking and outdoor spaces. Additionally, the inclusion of seating for the differently abled and a full overhaul of the air conditioning system is on the agenda. Sustainable lighting systems will be employed throughout the external spaces, particularly the uncovered Amphitheatre as a means of energy conservation.

This project also warrants an increase in and capacity development for the human capital of the organization. As the facility is improved and enhanced, and there is greater compliance with international industry standards, there will be efforts to increase the staff within the year and enhance its capacity through training, partnerships and outreach programmes.

The Naparima Bowl’s mission is not limited to its current location at 19-21 Paradise Pasture. In the long term, the acquisition of properties adjacent to the Bowl and environs will contribute to the increased goals and objectives of the organization. Parking continues to be a challenge and the acquisition of additional properties will significantly contribute to the alleviation of this problem. Additionally, accommodation for the ‘Naparima Bowl Studios’ which will develop and distribute the multimedia and merchandise products of productions staged at the Bowl. Essential for the sustainability of the performing arts, new facilities will be required for the preparation of commissioned works in all aspects of the arts; studio productions of music/song albums, dance and theatre for film and the editing, mastering and final rendering of these works for wider commercial audiences will continue to be a priority. The publication of scripts and original compositions; collector items; fan art and other paraphernalia can also be products of NB Studio, provided an additional source of revenue for both clients and the facility.
